Educate Girls Globally mobilizes community leaders, parents and girls to build commitment to education and improve educational quality. At the Gram Shiksha Sabha (GSS) village education meetings, girls and community members identify and collect detailed information about out-of-school and drop out girls in their villages and surrounding areas. This knowledge sets up the first round of discussion with parents and their daughters who are out of school. Enrollment campaigns with EGG are implemented which results in the re-admission of many of these girls so they can continue their education and graduate from school. Although initiated by EGG, most campaigns are community-driven as they begin to understand the value of girls’ education.
More than 5,000 out-of-school and drop out girls were identified in the EGG school districts during the 2015-2016 school year. Learn more about GSS education meetings and how they are transforming their communities and giving more girls a chance for a better future.
