Empowerment, what does this word truly mean?
Empowerment means freedom and power to control your life, to recognize and claim your rights, to have the autonomy to take your own decisions, to emancipate yourself from the sense of powerlessness, to become self-determined and responsible to be able to take charge of the pertaining circumstances by acting on your own authority.
Empowering yourself signifies – ‘to identify the inner potential and materialize it in your actions’
Empowerment is not confined to self-help, it is an act of building confidence and strength in others to enable them to obtain basic opportunities and maximize the quality of their lives.
Empowerment is a process to create a women-friendly environment where they are independent, authorized to make decisions for themselves and for the betterment of the society and live on their own humps perpetually.
Empowerment can mean different things to different people. For someone, it can be as simple as learning a new skill or language or to perform on a stage in front of a room full of audience. Meanwhile, for someone else it can be the liberty to freely go out of the house, to procure equal benefits as their male counterparts, to not married off at an early age of 10, to be permitted to work and earn their own money or even to be courageous enough to raise voice against domestic violence.
The most powerful way to empower yourself or others is through education.
It is the one-stop solution for all the problems existing in the society, whether social, economic, political or cultural. Owing to the patriarchal society and stereotypical behaviour of the community, majorly women are subjected to discrimination at large. Humankind is responsible for this unjust and prejudicial treatment towards women that leash them to the unfair social customs and traditions and deprived of their basic rights.
It is disheartening to see a woman being put through all of the unfairness in a world where the very reason for the existence of mankind is perspicuously a WOMAN.
Honestly, it is the responsibility of every individual to empower women in any possible way, to make this world a better and happy place to live in.
Educate Girls Globally, is persistently doing its bit in assisting young girls to be able to stand on their own two feet by giving them the power of education and bringing a positive change in their lives to transform them into breadwinners of their family.
