Educate Girls Globally exists to provide opportunities for women and girls to achieve their full potential, recognizing that educated women are the world’s most powerful agents of social change.
As a result of their education, the world becomes a safer, healthier, and more just place.
In India it is estimated that girls average less than four years of education in a lifetime and 40% leave school before they reach the fifth grade.
This situation stems from low quality of government education, shortage of teachers, poverty, limiting attitudes towards gender roles and a lack of support from parents and the community.
Educating girls has a multitude of positive effects for the wider community, as well as the individual woman.
Extensive research by the UN and the World Bank shows us that as women are educated:
• Birth-rates fall
• Family health improves
•Literacy accelerates in future generations
• Regions stabilize
• Both Family and national income grow
